Hey there! Let’s talk about something I get asked about ALL the time – how to make working with a VA actually work for your business. Things have been a little nutty around here lately (no rest for a mama with school aged kiddos 😅), but that’s exactly why I love helping other business owners find this same kind of freedom!
Real talk? The secret to a successful VA partnership is pretty simple – clear communication and expectations. Think of it like any other relationship – the more open you are from the start, the better it works!
Before you dive into working with a VA, here’s what you really need to know (trust me, I’ve been on both sides of this!):
First up, get clear on your current processes. I know, I know – documenting everything sounds about as fun as watching paint dry, but it’s a game-changer! Write down your daily tasks, your login info, and most importantly – what’s driving you crazy in your business right now.
Quick tip: Start with what’s eating up most of your time or what you consistently put off. Those are usually the first things you should hand off!
Week one is all about getting comfy with each other! You’ll have your kick-off call (don’t worry, it’s casual!), share those logins, and figure out how you both like to communicate.
By weeks two and three, you’ll start handing off those smaller tasks. This is where the magic starts happening – suddenly you’re not the one dealing with that inbox anymore! 😉
Week four? That’s when things really get rolling. You’ll be ready to delegate more, and you’ll probably wonder why you didn’t do this sooner!
Here’s the thing about communication – it doesn’t have to be complicated! Whether it’s quick Slack messages or weekly check-ins, find what works for YOU. Some of my clients love daily updates, others prefer weekly chats. There’s no one-size-fits-all here!
When you’re ready to start handing things off (exciting, right?!), remember this: clear instructions are your best friend. Whether it’s step-by-step notes or a quick Loom video, help your VA help you!
Pro tip: Be realistic with deadlines at first. Remember when you were learning something new? Give your VA that same grace period. Trust me, it pays off!
The best part about working with a VA? Watching your business transform while getting back your time. One of my clients recently told me she finally made it to all her kid’s games this season – THAT’S what this is all about! ✨
